A food ingredient is any substance that is added to a food to achieve a desired effect. The term “food ingredient” includes food additives, which are substances added to foods for specific technical and/or functional purposes during processing

Palm Shortening

Palm shortening is RBD Palm Oil ,which is actually just palm oil with some of its unsaturated fats removed. This gives it a high smoke point of over 230°C (great for baking and frying), and makes it shelf stable (doesn’t turn rancid)

Vegetable ghee

Vegetable ghee is a vegetarian alternative to this product. It is made up almost entirely of  hardened vegetable oil and is free from any milk

Margarine

Margarine is a spread used for flavoring, baking, and cooking. Margarine consists of a water-in-fat emulsion, with tiny droplets of water dispersed uniformly throughout a fat phase in a stable solid form

 

Cocoa Butter Substitute

Coconut oil has the same fatty flavor and richness as cocoa butter, so it would be a good alternative to cocoa butter. Unrefined, virgin coconut oil is sold at room temperature, similar to cocoa butter.

 

Coconut Sugar

Coconut sugar is very high in calories (same as regular sugar) and you’d have to eat a ridiculous amount of it to satisfy your need for the above nutrients. Coconut sugar contains small amounts of minerals, antioxidants and fiber
